New Trustees join the Daphne Jackson Trust Board

We are delighted to welcome two new Trustees to the Daphne Jackson Trust ‘s governing Board. Karen Hassell, Professor of Social Pharmacy at the University of Manchester and Dr Carole Thomas, Head of Directorate at the John Innes Centre, Norwich, will join our distinguished Board of Trustees chaired by Professor Dame Glynis Breakwell, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath. Dr Katie Perry, Chief Executive of the Daphne Jackson Trust said:

‘I look forward to working with Carole and Karen and am sure their expertise will be an excellent addition to our board of Trustees. It is an exciting time for the Trust as it develops as a forward looking organisation.’

Karen Hassell is a sociologist and Professor of Social Pharmacy within the Drug Usage and Pharmacy Practice (DUPP) Group at the University of Manchester. She has led a number of ground breaking studies in community pharmacy.and was Research Director for the School of Pharmacy at Manchester between 2008 and 2012.

Dr Carole Thomas is Head of the Research Directorate at the John Innes Centre, Norwich where she plays an active role in developing family-friendly initiatives. The John Innes Centre has recently become the first research institute outside the university sector to receive a silver Athena SWAN Award.

Carole said: ‘I am delighted to be joining the Board of Trustees of the Daphne Jackson Trust and am looking forward to working with the Trust helping those who have had career breaks to get back into science.’
