Dr Tamar Schwarz

Dr Tamar Schwarz

Tamar Schwarz is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at University College London in the Department of Structural and Molecular Biology.

With a background in microbiology and biochemistry Tamar has an MSci from the University of Glasgow, which included a one-year research placement at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and aquaculture Science (Cefas). Tamar’s doctoral and post-doctoral research also took place at Cefas in Weymouth, where she studied the uptake and metabolism of vertebrate steroids in mussels and was awarded her PhD by the University of Glasgow.

After a five year career break Tamar is now changing her research specialism and returning to molecular microbiology with her project that is entitled:

Green plastics: production of biodegradable polymers in the chloroplast of the microalga Chlamydomonas and scale-up of downstream processing of these biocompatible materials
