Dr Samuel Powley
Sam Powley is a Daphne Jackson Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Manchester.
A synthetic chemist, Sam has a First Class MChem in Chemistry from Heriot-Watt University. During his master’s project, he was offered a fully funded departmental PhD after which he worked as a post doctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich in Germany.
Returning to research after a four year career break, Sam is interested in the chemical design and synthesis of new light-emitting materials for use in electronics and visual display technologies.
Sam’s Fellowship, sponsored by The University of Manchester and the Royal Society of Chemistry is due to finish in 2024 and his project is titled: Boron-rich carbenes from fundamentals to applications in energy materials
