Dr Rawaz Ahmed

Rawaz Ahmed is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at De Montfort University Leicester in the School of Engineering and Sustainable Development.

With a BSc in Chemistry from Sulaimaniya University, Kurdistan, Rawaz was awarded a scholarship to undertake an MSc in Petroleum Engineering at Teesside University. Her scholarship was extended to fund a PhD in Chemical Engineering, also undertaken at Teesside University, specialising in heterogeneous catalysis. This led to a research post at Teesside, until she returned to Kurdistan where she worked as a lecturer and a researcher looking at oil and gas.

Now returning to research after a four year career break, Rawaz’s project is titled: Newly-developed catalysts for environmentally friendly catalytic processes

Her Fellowship, sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry and SCI (Society of Chemical Industry) is due to finish in 2023.
