Returning to her research after a 22-year break, Ban’s Fellowship is entitled: “Liquid Crystal deformation: A new reporting mechanism for diagnosing infections”. Ban’s research explores how to use changes in the alignment of liquid crystals, crystals with properties between conventional liquid and solid crystals, as a tool for diagnosing infections.
