Daphne Jackson Fellow at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge University Botanic Garden and Department of Plant Sciences

Field: Life Sciences & Biomedicine

Host: University of Cambridge

Funders: UKRI – Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) UKRI – Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)

Fellowship Title: Using Cambridge University collections to assess the impact of changes in land use and climate on the flora and fauna of the Fens – towards effective restoration work within fenland agricultural systems.

Rosemary’s project explores the information contained in historical plant and insect collections at the University of Cambridge and beyond. The project aims to investigate the impact of human activity on long term community change and ecological synchronisation of flora and fauna within the Fenland region of the East of England.

After a break following a successful career as a neuroscience academic, this Fellowship represents an opportunity for Rose to switch to a new field of research. During her Fellowship, she plans to develop her knowledge of botany, entomology and ecology, and new skills in coding, artificial intelligence and data analysis.
