Dr Simon Swingler
Simon Swingler is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at the University of Glasgow in the Centre for Virus Research.
Having graduated with a degree in microbiology from the University of Reading, Simon did his PhD in HIV-1 gene expression in neural cells at the University of Warwick. He progressed through post-doctoral training in the UK and the USA working at the Salk Institute, San Diego and the University of Massachusetts.
Simon’s three-year Fellowship is sponsored by Medical Research Scotland.
Returning to research after a nine year year career break, his project, due to finish in 2023 is titled: Pharmaceutical induction of the body’s natural anti-viral proteins as a means to control HIV-1 infection.
