Marzieh’s project investigates the functional diversity and protective roles of lung-resident γδ T cell subsets during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, exploring how vaccination strategies can enhance their activity to inform novel TB vaccine development.

Before her career break, she completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne, Australia, studying innate immune responses to malaria infection, and also gained valuable teaching experience there. She is now applying her expertise in the host laboratory, acquiring advanced immunological methods and developing expertise in TB research while expanding her professional network in the UK.

She is grateful to the Daphne Jackson Trust, the Medical Research Council, and the University of Leicester for supporting her fellowship, providing a valuable opportunity to advance her
investigation in immunology and build a foundation for future independent research.
