Field: Life Sciences & Biomedicine

Host: University of Edinburgh

Fellowship Title: Understanding damage to the biliary and vascular network during liver procurement and cold storage

Dr Saraiva started her career studying the behaviour of immune cells and the host response to tuberculosis. After her PhD, she joined the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control working in their core activities that ensure the safety of biological medicines and promote the international harmonisation of analytical testing. She is feeling fortunate to be able to return to research after a six-year gap looking after her young family. Her work focuses on improving our understanding of the changes in the liver microarchitecture that are relevant to the success of liver transplantation.

We rely on our partners to fund fellowships, host and supervise fellows at their institutions and provide support to help us grow. Find out more about how to get involved below.
