The Daphne Jackson Trust has signed the Technician Commitment, reinforcing its dedication to supporting research technical professionals and strengthening the UK’s research and innovation workforce.
The Daphne Jackson Trust has become a signatory of the Technician Commitment, joining a growing community of organisations dedicated to improving the visibility, recognition, career development and diversity of technical professionals who are essential to research and innovation.
This commitment builds on the Trust’s long-standing mission to support talented researchers returning to their careers after breaks taken for family, caring or health reasons. Alongside its established fellowships for researchers, the Trust has recently launched a new fellowship specifically for research technical professionals who have been away from the workforce for two years or more, click here for open RTP Fellowship opportunities.
Research technical professionals play a vital role in delivering world-leading research, yet many face barriers when returning after a career break. By investing in their return, organisations retain valuable expertise, strengthen research capability and help build a more resilient, diverse and sustainable workforce.
To date, the Daphne Jackson Trust has supported 533 researchers back into research careers. Signing the Technician Commitment marks the next step in extending that support to the technical community and creating more inclusive pathways back into research.
For over 30 years, we have seen first-hand the value of supporting talented people back into research, helping more than 530 researchers successfully return to their careers. By becoming a signatory of the Technician Commitment, we are reaffirming our commitment to developing our fellowships for those who have worked in the technical professions. Building a more diverse, inclusive and resilient research and innovation workforce strengthens the entire research ecosystem across the UK!”
