Dr Samantha Garrard

Samantha is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) and the University of Plymouth in the International Marine Litter Research Unit.

With a PhD and background in marine biology, Samantha’s research has focused on understanding how human activities impact on marine species and communities.

Returning to research after five years, her project is entitled: Does shape matter? Establishing the impact of environmentally relevant concentrations of microplastic fibres and fragments on a model invertebrate community.

Due to finish in 2023, her Fellowship is sponsored by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Plymouth Marine Laboratory.
