Dr Pin (Penny) Wu

Pin Wu is a Daphne Jackson Fellow in the School of Mathematics and Physics at Queen’s University Belfast.

Pin is returning to the astrophysics field of research after a three and half year career break. Prior to her break she obtained a BSc in Modern Physics from the University of Science and Technology in China and a PhD in Space Plasmas Physics from Boston University. She had worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a graduate student and the Bartol Research Institute as a postdoc and a research scientist subsequently.

Pin’s Fellowship is sponsored by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

Her research project will look at solar heating and is titled: Magnetic reconnection in astrophysical plasmas. Pin’s Fellowship is planned to finish in 2021.
