Dr Nilmini Dissanayake

Nilmini Dissanayake is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at the National Physical Laboratory. She is an engineer specialising in materials science.

Prior to a career break of five years, Nilmini worked as a Research Associate at Exeter Advanced Technologies at the University of Exeter, developing polymer matrix composites using natural fibres to have a similar performance to man-made fibre reinforcement.

Nilmini’s Fellowship is sponsored by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).

Her research project is titled: Characterising the degradation mechanisms of pultruded glass fibre-reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites at the end of service life and her Fellowship is due to finish in 2020.
