Dr Melissa Marr

Dr Melissa Marr

Melissa Marr is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and The Roslin Institute, The University of Edinburgh.

With a backgound in wildlife conservation, Melissa has an MRes in Biosystematics. For her PhD, she was based primarily at the Natural History Museum London, and her research background is in genetics and morphometrics.  In particular, she is interested in how this research can be used to inform conservation and analyse taxonomic boundaries.

Melissa’s Fellowship is sponsored by The University of Edinburgh and the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).

Returning to research after a three year career break Melissa’s project title is: Comparative population genomics of Scottish red squirrels: understanding diversity to support conservation management in a key species stronghold and is due to finish in 2022.
