Dr Fiona Bate

Fiona Bate is a Daphne Jackson Fellow at the University of York in the Department of Mathematics.

With a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Fiona worked as a mathematic modeller before her career break. Returning to research after eleven years, she will be contributing to a project with the University of York and Yorkshire Water, producing a mathematical description of the biological and physical processes involved in anaerobic wastewater treatment.

Fiona is sponsored by the University of York and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).

Due to finish in 2021, her research project is entitled: Optimising Biofuel Production in Spatial Models of Wastewater Treatment.
