Dr Alexandra Karamitrou

Alexandra Karamitrou is a Daphne Jackson Fellow based in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Southampton and the National Oceanography Centre, also in Southampton.

Studying geology and geophysics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece, Alexandra completed her PhD whilst in Boston, USA.

Alexandra’s research project is: Detection of Ancient and Modern-era Shipwrecks Before They Become Environmental Hazards and she will complete her Fellowship in 2021.

Her Fellowship is sponsored by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).
